We’ll never say the sheriff’s name...
Back in the ’50s, one Towns County sheriff was a pretty good friend of Mimm’s - he always looked out for him.
One night, two young fellas who were regular customers of Mimm’s bought some moonshine and decided to go to the Georgia Mountain Fair. The problem was, they couldn’t find a good place to hide their liquor before going in…
On their way to the fair, the boys ran into this particular sheriff who asked what was in the jug, and they confessed.
The sheriff told them, “If the liquor came from Jack McClure, you can go on and hide it in the bushes and I’ll keep an eye on it.”
The boys went back to claim their jug at the end of the night, and when they got there the sheriff was gone and the jug was half empty…
That’s the day we learned an important lesson: Never let anyone hold your Grandaddy Mimm’s shine.
