9 Tailgating Cocktails to Up Your Drink Game This Football Season

It’s the most cocktail time of the year…tailgate season!

Fall weather, bonfires, stadium lights, the smell of burgers on the grill, and a good drink in your hand—it’s college football season, baby.

A good tailgating cocktail doesn’t require much to make and is something you can drink slow enough for a sustained drive or fast enough to celebrate a touchdown.

Here are our recommendations for easy moonshine, whiskey, and vodka drinks to make whether you’re tailgating or watching from home.

Our approach to tailgating cocktails is based on your game’s kickoff time to best fit the mood:

- 2 oz Owltown Citrus Vodka
- 6 oz Orange Juice

You’re getting started early and OJ is probably on hand. If it’s not, the pros hit up a Chick-fil-A drive-thru.

Not much else to say here other than we love this classic daytime drink.

- 2 oz of Mimm’s Peach Moonshine
- 6 oz Sweet Tea

Simple, easy, sweet.

Shake with ice and top with a lemon or peach slice if you’re feeling fancy, but also this is a tailgate so there’s no time for messin’ around.

- 2 oz Mimm’s Original Whiskey
- 6 oz Your Favorite Lemonade

Serve over ice and call it a day, friends. Make this in a big ‘ol pitcher to have ready-to-serve or make it one-offs throughout the day.

It’s not as complicated as it sounds, we promise. And you know your tailgate has beer on hand… here’s the way to turn it into a real good cocktail:

- 6 oz of Your Favorite Light Beer
- 2 oz Mimm’s Blackberry Moonshine
- 2 oz Margarita Mix
- Lime Wedge to Garnish

When you can’t pick between two of the best drinks…put them together! The Blackberry Beergarita might knock you off your feet a little, so maybe have a little lunch first.

- 2 oz Owltown Citrus Vodka
- 6 oz Sprite

A drink everyone can enjoy with ingredients you probably already have.

This is maybe the easiest, smoothest drink on the tailgating list - and it’s just a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

- 3/4 c. Hot Water
- 1.5 oz Mimm’s Original Whiskey
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 1.5 oz Lemon Juice

Tailgating gets cold when the games start to really matter. For when the sun goes down and the temperature drops just enough to pull on a sweatshirt and drink something warm.
